JAPAN TRIP: BLOSSOMING MINDS

Japan is beautiful, intriguing, rich in culture, and breathtaking. I have only visited once (with my family); we went to Kyoto and Osaka to go sight-seeing, shopping, and generally just familiarizing ourselves with the beauty of Japan. The hustle and bustle of the citizens did not stop them from being unbelievably kind to us hopelessly lost tourists. Over my short trip then, I had come to love the country for its food, sights, and people.

Now, obtaining an unbelievable opportunity to actually study in a university in Japan threw me off guard. I am so shocked and happy to be part of the team of student delegates that will visit Akashi College. It is a lie however, to say that I am a hundred percent confident going into this trip. I am terrified of what’s to come but the closer and closer the trip gets, the more the dread leaves me. The pure excitement and drive to learn, learn about electrical engineering (the classes I will be in) and the culture of Japan is what’s helping me overcome my fear.

I expect for this trip to be engaging, a learning experience, and very very fun! My past experience with Japan was all about visiting tourist spots and shopping. Now I get to go beyond that and see the true culture and heart of the Japanese! I believe that everyone part of the program will be entertaining and kind, and I can not wait to shower them with the happiness that I am currently feeling. I hope this trip will be everything I expected and more! To learn more about Japan and its people is a privilege that I will hopefully keep dear within me!
