My Expectations

When I found out of the Japan Exchange Student program, it was a day left until the deadline of requirements. And so I thought I would not be able to join this program, but the fact that this will be my first time traveling to Japan, to not only visit, but to learn something particular to my career made me work hard on accomplishing the requirements. After an exhausting day and a half, I finished and passed the requirements on the day of submission. (Tip : Never do this when working on a research paper)
After a day of waiting for the results, I felt really anxious as I thought I would not be able to make the cut. After some more waiting, I saw students getting their results in emails as they got either accepted or rejected from the program which made me more anxious because I still didn’t receive my results. But the moment I’ve received the email, I was both excited and terrified because it’s either I was accepted or rejected from the program but we all know what happened next thankfully.
For 11 days, I will be joining 20 selected students from Grade 11 DLSU to travel to Akashi, Japan to learn more about engineering and technologies in the National Institute of Technology. I’m excited for this trip because I’ll be making new friends and memories while learning more about technologies, and Japan’s culture during the trip. I know that there might be some obstacles during this this trip but I am confident that all of the students will be able to surpass it. I will surely miss home as I travel for the first time alone without my family. However, I am looking forward to the new learning experiences, memories, and friends that I will acquire in this trip as I can see myself changing and growing for the better.
