Second day. Welcome Party. Socializing begins, now. Before the trip, we were given a task about presenting something about our culture, the Philippines. Our group, Mechanical Engineering, decided that we would show them the different types of food that we have. They seemed a bit overwhelmed with the various ways we eat our food and set our meal. It was understandable because our dinner can become our merienda or our "in between food" and our merienda can become our dinner, breakfast, lunch, and vice versa. I was a bit nervous because I had thoughts like "what if they get bored", "what if they won't understand the presentation", and "what if I put the subtitles wrong" but that all vanished when I saw them nodding and repeating the tagalog words we taught them. After the presentation, we all gave them loot bags of different kinds of Filipino snacks, but what caught their attention the most was "Mik-mik". To be completely honest, we all couldn't stop laughing- even our Japanese buddies because everyone was either coughing or screaming out in amazement that it was "Oisihi" or "delicious". Everyone around me was in complete laughter but the happiness didn’t stop there, it was only the beginning.
After everything settled down and kwentos and talks among our group slowly died down, we all decided to go to where the real party was held. We went down to the cafeteria as a group and it felt really good to be welcomed in an unfamiliar country and to find an amazing group of friends.
