The Hardest Goodbye

Goodbyes are never easy.

When I was younger, I would always cry whenever a family member or someone close to me would leave our hometown. You know, like, another country or even another continent. I've since learned that I shouldn't cry, because sooner or later we will meet again.

But as I said my goodbyes to the NITAC students—better yet, my friends—I could help but cry. I know that there's always the possibility of us meeting again in the future, but what if there isn't? What if this was the last time we see each other? What was the last thing we said to each other? Is this really it?

Of course, I knew that most of them would be visiting the Philippines as well when September rolls around, but we also made friends with people that weren't going, and the thought is extremely bittersweet.

I will never forget the memories we made during our time in Japan. Never forget the people we met, the places we went, the laughs and moments we shared. If we are destined to, we will meet again, and hopefully we will be able to share a part of our lives again, no matter how brief.

Thank you, DLSU. Thank you, NITAC. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to meet friends that I will treasure for the rest of my life. Thank you for a trip that I could never forget.
