Walk till You Drop

After classes, we were shown around the area. For the first two days, I was ready to drop dead by the time we arrived at the hotel. I seriously didn’t expect us having to walk every day for a good number of kilometers. There weren’t any other modes of transportation other than the train and bus unlike in the Philippines, where jeepneys and other forms of transportation were available wherever one looked.
Like the time we went to the Caterpillar factory? We walked uphill for about five, maybe ten minutes, and added an extra twenty-minute walk. By the time we arrived, we were out of breath and huffing, yet our Japanese guides were unfazed, and they had walked so fast too! It was crazy! And we had to walk the same distance back to the school, and then our usual daily path, yet somehow it was like nothing?
I don’t know, it’s such a mundane thing but it’s so interesting to me. I’ve said it a lot before, but the cultural differences are just so fascinating.
